Challenge:
Develop an animated music video for Fashawn in 3 weeks.
Approach & Contribution:
I pitched and developed a western-themed animation for Fashawn's track. Inspired by legendary African American lawman and scout, Bass Reeves. While the narrative involved elements of gun violence inherent to the genre, it aimed to tell an epic tale rooted in artistic interpretation and storytelling rather than promoting real-world violence.
Outcome:
The video's artistic merit was overshadowed by its coincidental release around the time of a tragic mass shooting, affecting its online promotion. This highlighted the delicate balance between art, inspiration, and real-world events. While met with personal introspection on its themes, the work stands as a creative exploration into blending music, history, and animation.
